Our Value Chain Assets

BW Liberty at Sonker Bulk Liquids Terminal
Expanding the platform for growth to seize attractive opportunities along the LPG value chain.

An integrated player with a growing presence in the LPG value chain

At BW LPG, our focus on profitability has provided shareholders with good returns. We continue to execute strategic investments across the value chain, expanding our integrated platform to capture opportunities as they arise.

We have been investing in LPG downstream distribution, as our core shipping business serves our customers with the world’s largest fleet of Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs), and our in-house Product Services Team purchases LPG and delivers it directly to buyers and/or receivers.

A trusted partner for customers,
a trust built on decades of operating experience

We aim to source and transport LPG globally, and explore opportunities to add value by participating in the downstream distribution of LPG. By partnering Public Sector Undertakings, national players, trading houses and other private companies, we support the seamless flow of energy to communities worldwide, and enhance supply chain efficiency.

As an integrated value chain player, and being part of the BW Group of companies, we can leverage on deep experience across diverse portfolios to provide our customers with the convenience of end-to-end service.

BW LPG Infrastructure

BW LPG Infrastructure is the team at BW LPG dedicated to developing our value chain assets. The team is led by Managing Director Iver Baatvik, and they are based in Dubai and Oslo. BW LPG Infra’s focus is on finding opportunities to develop LPG infrastructure in key emerging markets around the world.

Unlocking potential in the LPG supply chain: India

BW LPG’s first foray into the fast-growing LPG market in India was the set-up of an LPG shipping subsidiary in 2017 with a modest fleet of three modern Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs).  Since then, we have grown to become India’s largest owner and operator of VLGCs, accounting for approximately 25% of the maritime transportation of LPG into India.

With strong and stable returns from our Indian subsidiary, we took the next step to advance our growth trajectory in India, and entered a joint venture with Confidence Petroleum India Ltd. to explore investment opportunities along the value chain.

Growing our downstream presence through partnerships

Furthermore, BW LPG invested USD 30 million in Mumbai Stock Exchange listed Confidence Petroleum, to gain exposure to LPG downstream distribution business. Though Confidence Petroleum, we have:

  • 15 cylinder manufacturing plants
  • 690+ bottling and blending plants
  • 2300+ LPG dealer network pan-India
  • 270+ auto LPG dispensing station
  • 40+ CNG stations

This is aligned with our strategy to establish an integrated, future-proof LPG company, and offers commercial benefits and synergies beyond standalone returns.
